I was considering trying to get a patent for an idea I have. All I have is the idea, nothing more. What steps would I do to get this from idea to patent? What is the average cost of time and money in getting a patent?

Have an idea, but no idea where to start
I want to start a cigar wrap company, but I have no idea where to start. I just need some general advice and a push in the right direction. Idk if I should start on getting funding, creating the business enterprise, or getting a patent for my potential product. I am at step 1, but have no idea what the next step is or where to go from there. I have zero business experience, just an idea, so I really could use your guys' help in making it a reality
selling/renting an idea
If I came up with a potential product, but didn't want or wasn't able to produce it, could I sell/rent the idea to the other person so that some percentage of the profits of the product go to me? Like say I had a patent, but couldn't build the product myself. Could I sort of rent that patent or idea to someone who will produce the product, but I take a cut of the profit for having the patent. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I'll try to clarify if need be.
Purchasing a domain?
So I went online the other day to search for the domain I wanted but it was taken (currently not being used), good news is I found a satisfactory replacement.
Questions came up as I was heading to check out that I wasn't sure about and wondered if you guys could help.
1. They offered other similar domains for sale as well (.net, .org. etc) as a package deal, there was a special price up front then like $15 a year after. I assume that was per domain per year. (BTW this was godaddy)
2. Do you need to purchase the email option up front or can that be added later?
3. They offered the domains for 1-10 years, I could purchase either way. Is it better to purchase multiple years or year by year?
I think that is it right now.
Thank you

How much business should invest in marketing
Hi,
I know there are a lot of articles saying you should invest X or Y%.
I want to ask you, from your experience is it worth to invest more then 10% in marketing and how to determine
the initial marketing investment.
Thanks
Alex
