Suggestions for attracting local businesses

Hello,
The company that I work for has a prime marketing opportunity in regards to signage on our building. We are a distributor located right off the freeway were upwards of 70,000 cars pass every day. We are currently working on a sign to attract local business owners to stop in and see what we have to offer. We have thought about a "Open to the Public" type sign, however we are trying to focus more on local businesses rather than Joe Blow off the street. I would love any suggestions for simple, to the point signage that will attract the desired demographic. Something along the lines of "Serving Local Business" possibly with a "Open to the Public" in smaller font below.

Thank you!

Glad to be part of this forum

Looking forward to meeting new people and getting them right financially

Help Urgent!

Hi Guys

I had a company about 12 months ago that went under, I now have a new company etc and I am doing okay. But I have a debt collector chasing me for a debt for the old company for a BIN! I returned the bin back to the waste removal company and that was that for around 8 months. Now a bailiff has been to my home demanding over £3000 as apparently I am listed as the second debtor. I am not to sure what to do here if any one can help? All due respect I am not paying £3000 for a bin which I sent back in good condition and I havent received any services since, how can I stop them bothering me? I have tried to refer them to my accountant who handled the shutting down of the company. But like I say I am listed as a second debtor apparently so they want me to pay.

By the way the debt collector is Andrew Wilson & CO.

Regards & Thank you!

TT

S Corp Members - Base Salary and Earnings

Hi there, first time poster. I hope I can explain this well.

I'm an owner in a small business. I was recently promoted and granted additional share of the business in terms of ownership percentage. However, the larger share owners now wants to modify all of our base salaries because they don't like the potential hit he will take. We are an S corp and pay ourselves a base salary that is pretty reflective of market value for our positions.

All numbers are fictions, but to explain how the situation was working.

Two larger owners previous base = $50,000
Two smaller owners previous base = $40,000

A larger owner has 3x the shares at a smaller owner. Thus, assuming a profit of $200k, the final year compensation would be:

Majority larger = $50,000 + $75,000 = $115,000
Minority smaller = $40,000 + $25,000 = $ 65,000

The shared were adjusted such that the larger owners now have only 2x the shares of the smaller owners. As you can see, that will cut into the larger owners overall compensation. Thus, the new compensation would be:

Larger owner = $50,000 + $66,667 = $116,667
Smaller owner = $40,000 + $33,333 = $ 73,333

So, the larger owners don't like that and want to change the base. Essentially, they want the he multiplier to always be 2x no matter what the category. The reasoning they say is that they've been taking less money all along than they should have. They want:

Larger owner = $80,000 + $46,667 = $126,667
Smaller owner = $40,000 + $23,333 = $63,333

Because their bases would be larger, the profit in this example would only be $140,000 instead of $200,000.

So...my question is...how are base salaries and / or comp typically handled between partners? Honestly, I don't care what the answer is...I just want to better understand. The larger owners are basically saying -- look, for the past few years, we've been taking less than we should have. Now, we feel it's time to set this all straight and base everything off of ownership percentage. I was looking at it saying that the base should be reflective of market rates, not the ownership % and the ownership % would come into play after a reasonable base is paid for all members.

It's a complicated thing, and as with all situations regarding money, there could be hurt feelings. I just really want to know whether I am looking at it the wrong way.

What Are You Looking For In A Web Design Company?

I am starting a web design company that markets primarily to local businesses. I was wondering what business owners are looking for in a web design company. What are some things that you would like to see these companies do, and what are some things that you dislike about current web design companies?

Thanks for your feedback,

Kaloeb

QUICKBOOKS: to buy software or pay per month online?

Running a small electrician's business and self employed with helper from time to time. Looking for software that will keep track of expenses, invoices to clients, taxes, vendor's statements & etc. I'm on the road most of time and have very little time to do my own but can find someone to do it for me like a virtual assistant or bookkeeper? I'd love to be able to have access to my vendor's price list and invoices to my clients from my cell phone. Would love something to use my cell phone to have access to my overall activities. If I buy the program would I have that option or would I have to sign up for an online account & pay a monthly fee? What advice can you give me?
