I have been going back and forth with UPS trying to get better rates for shipping. I currently get a 9% flat rate discount on published carrier rates for Ground shipping (this was just by signing up online). They offered me a "Incentive" Agreement". I am very confused on how the rep explained it to me. From what I see if I am using the table/understanding correctly. If I have a slow week and I am $0.01- $49.99 tier and only ship out 5 lbs residential I would get a 6% discount. Is anyone else familiar with these? Do they came right off the shipping price or is the like a rebate I receive weekly? Don't think is really a good deal.

In need of feedback
Hey everyone! My name is Caleb. Myself and four other people started a software company in Columbia, SC. The entire premise of the software is to help strengthen businesses' relationships with their customers through improved communication leading to improved customer retention. We are in the very early stages of development, and we are trying to get the best product/market fit possible. Right now we have 4 features:
1) record keeping - archiving business activities and the ability to send electronic invoices
2) notifications - the ability to send immediate or delayed notifications (work orders) about the status of a particular job
3) feedback - the ability to gain feedback from their customer (3-5 question surveys)
4) mass messaging - mass email and sms functionality
All that being said, we are trying to focus our energy on developing software that adds value to businesses that provide a service. Please provide your input into which of the 4 features would have the greatest impact on your business and what type of business you own.
Any feedback is very appreciated.

trading with normal ira money, after rollover has any effect on any tax document?
last year, I rolled over my previous employer's 401 k into a normal ira. now while i do my 2014 taxes, I showed the rollover information from 1099 R on my tax return. i took no money out, so no tax due now.
To date I never traded stocks or mutual funds etc with that money in the new IRA. But if I start trading it doesnt affect anything on my tax return now or later right? In fact, even if I started trading before doing my taxes now, and right after rollover was complete, it would still have no effect on what I wrote on my tax return, and I would have written the info from 1099R right?

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to very quickly introduce myself. My name is Mitchell and I am a budding web development entrepreneur. As a web developer, I build and develop websites for free(provided my clients cover the costs of hosting and provide me with a testimonial). In addition, I have been an internet marketer for the past 2 years. Prior to that, I was a stockbroker, equity portfolio manager and Private banker for high net worth individuals.
Although I did find success in these careers, especially stockbroking, having done tons of TV shows, radio shows and writing for several financial publications, I never really enjoyed the politicized corporate 9 to 5 rat race(I know, my description of the corporate world is a bit cliche:rolleyes:). Website development and internet marketing are fields that really appealed to me and what's the point of living if you're not going to do something you're passionate about, right? Anyway, I look forward to sharing ideas with people on this forum and hope to foster new business relationships with fellow entrepreneurs on the forum.

A few ideas or examples on how salary pay should work
Hello All, I am new here... stumbled across the forum researching pay ideas.
Real quick about the company. It is 12 years old and 30 employees. Right now 5 of the employees are salary based employees, the balance are hourly.
For salary, I am struggling with the new out of school younger people who don't understand it and how you don't get paid for over 40 hours... that is built into their rate (higher rate then if it was hourly). Also they forget the extra paid days off around the holidays they receive.
I need some examples on how salary employees should work. Here is what I am doing right now but I am willing to change it:
- All time taken off over 4 hours is charged vacation, under 4 hours I cover. So it someone leaves 3 hours early I pay it. If they leave 5 hours early they use vacation. I do however do this case by case and exceptional employees I just pay regardless. I used this as a guideline to get started.
- How should sick or personal days work? If you get a call an hour before you are to come in asking if you can have the day off because the roads are getting bad (snow) how do you handle that?
Basically to make a long story short my older employees understand and I have no issues. I am having extreme difficulty with young out of school kids. I am tempted to go back to hourly however I hate worrying about time clock with employees that travel a little, have deadlines, projects.
If anyone has tips, links, please share. I am working on a review with a cumbersome employee now.
Thanks!
