Hi,
I'm starting an in-home care agency in the Los Angeles area. I have some questions about overtime for domestic workers. I'm reading that some agencies don't pay caregivers for sleep time in a 24 hr shift. I have read that the caregiver gets 8 or 9 hrs at regular pay and 7 hrs at time and a half. While the remaining 8 hrs do not have to be paid as long as they are allowed to have 5 hrs of uninterrupted rest. However I read somewhere that it is illegal to make them stay and not pay them. Anyone experienced in home care services that could clarify the law for me. I'm meeting with an attorney in another state via Skype but I'm not sure if he's experienced with in-home care.
I'd also like to get to know others that are in the same field as me of you're out there. Thank you.
