I haven't gone through all of the posts in this forum yet so I apologize if this question has been broached before...
I'm not really familiar with podcasts, but I know they are popular in some circles. I am developing a marketing plan for a new product that would be geared towards people who are looking for ways to protect their laptop computers from damage.
I came across a discussion on NPR last week about marketing on podcasts. It's the same as the radio ads for Shari's Berries, 1-800 Flowers, etc., where the radio/podcast host reads the commercial on the air and the call to action is for the customer to receive a discount if they enter the host's name in the coupon code field on the website. This allows the company to track the effectiveness of the ad for each host or market they place the ad.
The NPR piece discussed companies placing these same ads with podcast broadcasters. It sounded like an interesting and low(er) cost way of reaching target markets. Does anyone have any experience of thoughts on doing this? Thanks.
