How to gain targeted YouTube views?

I'm sure there are a million and one threads on this already but I’m curious to know which the best method of getting more views is currently.



I've gone through the process since uploading my video a week ago of optimizing it the best i can in the way of quality, content, length, full description meta tags etc. but because the niche is competitive (health and fitness) i don't want to be lost as a fart in a thunderstorm.



Is paid traffic to YouTube a viable way of gaining YouTube SEO or is non-targeted/random geographic clicks more of a hindrance than a help?
