Social Media Website

I have recently launched a social media website for business professionals and small businesses to network with. I have attempted various methods to get people to sign up to this site with minimal results. i have tried Fiverr gigs, Facebook ads and social media sharing. I have had bad experiences with google ads in the past by paying a lot of money and not getting any clicks so I don;t want to go there.

Does anyone have any good experiences with internet advertising and would you recommend anyone for this?
