I am a partner with my absentee daughter ( long story) of a 17 month old Bird ( pet shop ) in Long Island NY.
I am so glad that i found this forum to be able to read experiences in business and share mine.
We are not your average pet store..we deal with the sale of parrots and exotic animals however we do not stock the parrots. It is a specialty service and each parrot is individually ordered to insure that the customer is receiving a baby parrot and the bird does not leave me until it is totally weaned from the baby formula. This process allows us to match the right bird with the prospective buyer and inform them as to the good the bad etc and because it is a process that takes some time before the bird would be going home with the owner, it allows me to educate and inform them as to what they need to know in caring for their bird.( hopefully will help reduce the rehoming of birds/parrots if the customer is informed as to what they are actually getting into.)We began as a home based business and within 6 years we outgrew the house business and opened our store. It is totally different having a retail store. We only sell premium products that are healthy and safe for all animals.
I look forward to establishing some relationships here and maybe getting some much needed advice when possible.
